Veritas was the very first project I ever produced and the starting point of my love for producing, and ultimately, why I chose to pursue this career. The role of producer was assigned to me during a class module at film school, where each student had to take on a key role for our short film module. I wasn’t reluctant to produce, but I was definitely a little intimidated. I had never carried that level of responsibility on a film set before.

Despite the initial nerves, I approached the role with positive energy and excitement to try something new. That sense of responsibility challenged me in the best ways and helped me grow, not just as a filmmaker, but as a person. I became more confident in being assertive, making decisions, and guiding the production forward.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned on Veritas was how to properly assess and mitigate risks on set. I gained a solid understanding of how to structure a thorough risk assessment, which is absolutely essential for any shoot. I also learned a great deal about the logistical side of producing, things like scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating between departments. All of this has deepened my respect for what goes on behind the scenes.

My personal highlight of the project was having the chance to film in a professional studio

for the first time. We shot at Ealing Studios, Stage 5, in a flat construction that was donated by a major feature film production prior. It was an incredible experience to be in such a historic space and to feel like our small student production was part of something much bigger.

Most importantly, Veritas gave me the opportunity to be in charge of something truly meaningful. It solidified my passion for producing and my love for helping bring other people’s creative visions to life.
