When Pamela asked me to produce her directorial debut, I was immediately intrigued to learn more about her story. She had written a short script imagining how she might feel if she were to lose her brother, which is a very deeply personal and emotional concept. Interwoven with the universal theme of grief, her story resonates with so many people, and I was set on bringing it to life.
We began by exploring the script together, discussing the tone, atmosphere, and emotional journey we wanted to capture. The choice of locations became an essential part of that process. For the first time, I found myself filming in a cemetery, an experience that required a more ethical approach/ briefing than normal locations. It also meant I had the opportunity to work with a new film office to secure this permit. The cemetery scenes contrasted really well with one of our other locations, a small pub , which we were fortunate enough to rent out for an entire half- day.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the project was collaborating with Actors I hadn’t worked with before. Given the emotional weight of the script, I made it a priority to create a safe and supportive environment, tailoring the schedule to meet the performers needs. This approach allowed the cast to fully immerse into their roles and deliver an authentic performance.
It was inspiring to watch Pamela step into her role as a Director with such confidence and care. She worked very closely with the actors and guided them to the emotional space they had to be in.
I’m proud of what we have created together and I am very excited to share some stills from this heartfelt production!
